1. Do you feel that internet
radio stations have helped get your music heard to new fans?
Absolutely. We've had great responses and support of
many internet radio stations world wide and new fans have come to our
shows telling us that they have heard us on the internet. And they came
from far!
2. Does your band currently
get fm radio airplay?
If so what stations are rockin your tunes?
In Germany we know we have been played in Hamburg on
Alsterradio 106,8 and in Hessen on HR3. In Italy we are being played as
well, and probably a lot more stations world wide than we know. We don't
get notified when they play us.
3. Have you ever opened up
for a National Headlining Act?
Yes we have. This is more like a funny story – but
true: In 2002 we opened up for Germany's most known Country Band “Truck
Stop”. But since they didn't want to share the stage with us, they set
up an additional stage opposite side to them!! We didn't really get that,
since we are nice guys and generally don't break other peoples stuff.
Who knows what they were afraid of... Funny stuff...
4. Do online stores help
increase sales of your band's music and merchandise?
Yes. It is the online stores that sell our stuff!
They have been the ones giving us the chance to sell our CD in an
extremely short period of time world wide!
5. What band or musician has
influenced you the most in your musical career?
We all grew up with bands like Toto, Survivor,
Whitesnake, Kiss, Status Quo, Magnum, Thunder, Europe,Van Halen, Brian
Adams, Bon Jovi, Eddie Money, Journey, Richard Marx...
I think they called it (Hard)-Rock before it was named AOR! It's such a
long time ago. :)
6. Tell us your favorite song to play live.
Everyone has a different one. Of our CD I think we
all love to play Caught in a trap and Faith a lot... but since we also
continue writing new songs, those are currently the favorites. A
highlight however is always Jump – yes THE Jump. That's were Lorenz
beats the crap out of his drums and Jürgen get's tendinitis because of
it.
7. What is the single best
rock/metal song ever written?
Oliver says “Here I go again” by Whitesnake but there
is so much good stuff out there – but it wouldn't be Bohemian Rapsody,
unless played by the Muppets! : )
8. How long has your band
been together?
We've been together for 10 years, formed in 1999,
hence the name Nine-T-Nine. We didn't really feel like spending a lot of
time thinking about the name, the music was more important.
9. Do you feel that internet
based sites have helped you expand your fan base?
Definitely. Every week we are receiving feedbacks
from all over the world. Email requests for a signed CD by someone in
Portugal or Greece, Italy, Finland, fans in Argentina, Japan, Austria,
Australia, USA... you name it. But our largest crowd is still here in
Germany!!
It is an amazing feeling to get so many positive responses.
That makes us very proud.
10. How does your band plan
to market their music online?
Are you using itunes or cd baby? any other digital outlets?
We are working together with distributors and our
music is available on itunes, amazon.de/.com, eventim music, musicload,
justaloud.com and many more. Beginning January 2010 we are extending to
a wider range of online portals. Our CD is now available in physical
stores in Germany as well, a CD sampler of Munichs Hardest Hits will
feature one of our songs, coming out hopefully before Christmas and we
are being featured in Australia by A'n'R. Starting next month we will
also be played on FM stations all over Germany, that should give us
another kick!
11. Where is your favorite
venue to play?
The Firefest in England, Roskilde in Denmark or the
Sweden Rock-Festival would be a huge honor. The big ones, why not?
12. What other band do you
enjoying hitting the stage with?
Certainly one of our idols, the ones we grew up with,
but also bands like Gotthard or FM who are going on Tour in 2010 would
be cool. The list is long! ; )
13. Tell about your upcoming
tour plans?
We are currently speaking to a bunch of people, other
bands and venues to work with us next year. Our Management is very
dedicated and active getting us out there. We are really looking forward
to 2010 and hope to expand tour dates outside of Germany!! I mean much
further... ;)
14. Does your band sell
digital downloads?
Yes ........ and starting January 2010 our CD will be
available in a lot more stores, the songs will be available as ringtones,
the whole shebang.
15. In what areas do you
attempt to reach out and expand your fan base?
We are currently working very closely with the radio
stations who are supporting us to grow our popularity. These stations
are in Hamburg all the way down to Munich, Warsaw, in Finland, Sweden,
Austria, Italy – all our neighbors. We noticed that certain areas or
regions tend to be more into our music than others. At the same time,
when we get a bit more attention, let's say in Sweden, the US or Japan
that would help us tremendously – even locally.
16. Let us talk more about
the music direction your band is choosing to pursue.
We will definitely stick to our style. However our
Album „Keep The Flame Alive“ was like a Best of the past 10 years for
us. Faith, Light my life, Bringin' my love were newer compositions were
everybody contributed. The new songs we are currently writing are
continuing that style and the band is growing even more musically. We
are very much into the new stuff. We have introduced the new songs
already at shows this summer and they were very well received. Some were
even disappointed that they weren't on the CD yet! Haha...
17. Outside of music what are some of your
favorite free time activities?
Jürgen and Oliver: Soccer,
Sharky: Jogging,
Helge: Riding his motorcycle,
Lorenz: energetic healing,
Corina is a mom of a sweet little girl,
Stefan: working on his car.
Thanks for the Interview! We really appreciate it!

Nine-T-Nine
