25 years of Dramatic Metal – 25 Years ZED YAGO Just in time for their 25th anniversary, the German dramatic metal band ZED YAGO releases a sensational new album called “THE PIRATES FROM HELL”, featuring 13 brand new tracks! Full of stomping grooves, great riffs and harmonies and paired with Yvonne’s outstanding voice create a unique rock feeling – and ZED YAGO, whose big, emotional-loaded songs have an almost legendary recognition value. With no doubt the album will enthuse both old and new fans.
ZED YAGO 2010 are: Singe Yvonne Durand, Jimmy Durand on guitars, Ingo Wittneben on bass, Karsten Kreppert on drums and featuring legendary  Tony Carey (ex-Rainbow) on keyboards. Tony Carey joined the line-up lately after listening to the new material. “It was just magic and Yvonne’s voice is so  incredible. I just had to be a part of this.”

Founded in 1985, ZED YAGO succeeded very soon also internationally. Their highly acclaimed debut album “From Over Yonder”, which dealt with the  story of original character of Zed Yago, the fictitious daughter of the Flying Dutchmen, became the album of the month in the German METAL HAMMER – leaving even AC/DC in the dust. Just in the first month after its release it sold  more than 30.000 copies. At that time a metal band wit a female singer was absolutely unique – as was the use of Wagner motives in the music.

ZED YAGO’s second album “Pilgrimage” took the band to Europe’s biggest venues supporting Deep Purple, it peaked as number  1 of the Japanese Metal Charts and on its back the band toured as a support of W.A.S.P. through Ireland and England. Coinciding with the band’s 20th stage anniversary in 2006, ZED YAGO released a highly acclaimed live-album which featured next to ten live track two unreleased titles.
ZED YAGO was the flagship of a brand new and today flourishing musical direction: “Dramatic Metal”, the combination of epic and mystic classical elements with dramatic metal arrangements which has been influential to bands such as Temptation, Evanescence or Nightwish.
ZED YAGO’s new studio album will be released in early summer 2010. In addition to 12 stunning brand new tracks it also features a cover version of the DEEP PURPLE classic “Burn”.“DEEP PURPLE has always been  supporting us in an extremely friendly way – so it was obvious we wanted to do that song”, says guitarist and songwriter Jimmy Durand. “Especially since so far no other female singer dared singing that track.” Listening to the new album it is more than clear that ZED YAGO’scredo hasn’t changed a bit, as  Jimmy points out: “It has always been a challenge for me to go our very own  way musically;  only if you do that a band can create and keep its own style and sound. Recognition is the most important for ZED YAGO. And also – sometimes it’s just more fun to swim against the tide and stick out of the masses.”
Tracks as “Born to Rock” or “Believe in Metal” do reflect what ZED YAGO live for. The omnipresent theme of the eponymous ZED YAGO and the loss of fantasy is represented by tracks such as “Sir Lancelot”, “Valley Of The King” or “Master Of Black Arts”.  Another issue which has always been important for ZED YAGO is the life of wolves, who have been featured in previous videos, and which is the theme of the new track “The Beast”.  “The new album has become extremely diverse and multi-faceted”, Singer Yvonne says. “We had an incredible good time recording the material and we simply can’t wait to present the new tracks  to the world.” “The honeymoon is over”, joins keyboard legend Tony Carey –

Die deutsche Dramatic Metal Band legt pünktlich zum Jubiläum ein sensationelles neues Album mit 13 brandneuen Songs vor. Der Titel des Album ist „THE PIRATES FROM HELL“ Knalliger Rhythmus, satte Riffs und Harmonien, gepaart mit Yvonnes sensationell rockiger Stimme lassen echtes Rockfeeling aufkommen – und ZED YAGO, deren große, gefühls - geladenen Songs einen geradezu legendären Wiedererkennungswert haben, werden alte und neue Fans begeistern.
ZED YAGO 2010 sind: Yvonne Durand (Gesang), Jimmy Durand (Gitarre), Ingo Wittneben (Bass), Karsten Kreppert (Drums) und Tony Carey (ex Rainbow) an den Keyboards. Carey bestätigte kürzlich seine Teilnahme, nachdem er das neue Material hörte. „Das war pure Magie und Yvonnes Stimme ist einfachunglaublich. Ich musste einfach dabei sein.“
ZED YAGO wurden 1985 gegründet und feierten wenig später große nationale und auch internationale Erfolge. Das vielbeachtete Debutalbum „From Over Yonder“, das sich mit der namensgebenden Zed Yago, der fiktiven Tochter des fliegenden Holländers beschäftigt, wurde (vor AC/DC) Platte des Monats im Metal Hammer und verkaufte sich allein im ersten Monat über 30.000 mal. Zu dieser Zeit war es noch sehr ungewöhnlich im Metal Bereich eine Frontfrau zu präsentieren – und auch die Verarbeitungvon Wagner-Motiven war neu. Das zweite Album „Pilgrimage“, mit dem die Band als Support von Deep Purple in den größten Hallen Europas spielte, erreichte Platz 1 der japanischen Metal Charts.
ZED YAGO tourten damit als Support von W.A.S.P. durch England und Irland.
Zum 20. Bandjubiläum 2006 veröffentlichte ZED YAGO ein von den Fans hochgelobtes Live-Album, das neben zehn Live-Titel auch zwei neue, bisher unveröffentlichte Titel enthielt.
ZED YAGO galten als Aushängeschild einer entstandenen und heute florierenden Musiksparte – dem "Dramatic Metal". Eine Verbindung episch - geheimnisvoller Klassik-Elemente mit dramatischen Metal-Arrangements und war sicherlich beein-flussend für Bands wie Within Temptation, Evanescence und Nightwish.
Das neue Studioalbum wird im Frühsommer 2010 veröffentlicht. Darauf befindet sich neben 12 eigenen Titeln auch ein Cover des DEEP PURPLE Klassikers „Burn“. „Die Idee kam uns, da wir von DEEP PURPLE sehr herzlich unterstützt wurden –und auch, weil sich bisher noch keine Frau an diesen Song gewagt hat“, sagt Gründungsmitglied Jimmy Durand. Dem neuen Werk hört man das Credo von ZED YAGO an. „Es war für mich schon immer eine Herausforderung, eineneigenen Weg in der Musik zu gehen; nur so kann eine Band ihren eigenen Stil kreieren. Wiedererkennung ist das wichtigste für ZED YAGO.
Es macht auch einfach mehr Spaß, manchmal ein bisschen gegen den Strom zu schwimmen.“ Titel wie „Born To Rock“ oder „Believe In Metal“ repräsentieren, wofür ZED YAGO leben. Auch das durch die namensgebende Figur ZED YAGO immer präsente Thema der abhanden gekommenen Phantasie zieht sich mit den Tracks „Sir Lancelot“, „Valley Of The King“ oder „Master Of Black Arts“ wie ein roter Faden durch das Album.
Wölfe sind ein weiteres, der Band schon immer wichtiges und in Videos präsentes Thema, das nun mit „The Beast“ seinen eigenen Titel bekommen hat. „Es ist ein überaus abwechslungsreiches, vielschichtiges Album geworden und wir können es kaum erwarten, die neuen Songs der Welt zu präsentieren“ sagt Yvonne.
