-THE CONCEPT-

SOUL APART is a band with no musical limitations. Having metal as the backbone, they combine different musical styles  from everywhere in the world, with passages of  introspective and melancholy ambiance. The name 'Soul Apart' has two different interpretations: the way the author express himself in his lyrics, where he 'takes his  soul out of his body' and speaks with absolute honesty; and the vision of an author, prisoner of a political and economical context, and his consequent depressive state of mind. Surely listeners will get identified with these concepts through personal  experiences, distresses and feelings related to the frustration of living in an environment  they hate. It is so the author  makes a trip deep in his soul to canalize his depressions and transform them into music. He reflects his character of melancholy Bohemian:
A traveller who crosses many lands and cultures, but whose vision persists. To this particular economic and cultural empire, he speaks his mind against it and lessons learned on life. Therefore, this idea is reflected in the addition of popular music styles from different places of the world, which aims to attract followers from everywhere to this original and unique band.

Soul Apart - Road To Self

-THE HISTORY-

SOUL APART comes to life in the fall of 2004, when the vocalist and keyboardist Guido Lisioli starts searching for new musical textures oriented to more climatic, introspective and experimental aspects, rather than what he had been working on in Firewood, his band by those times, related to power metal with some progressive airs. His very first intention was to explode the acoustic facet; it is so that "Road To Self ", "Moonson", "Last Minute Bells" and "Existential Fear" came to light. Beginning 2005, G. Lisioli decides to definitively leave Firewood to completely concentrate in his new project. At this moment, the composer resolves to add more elements from the musical genre he has loved since his childhood: metal, without leaving aside the darkness and experimentation of his initial intention. Therefore, songs like "The Always and Forever" and  "Rose Of The Swamp" came to the scene. Still as a personal project, Guido begins to seek for musicians for this new adventure. The first one in joining was the keyboardist Daniel "Keky" Gonzalez, who Guido already knew from Firewood. Later, in the second semester of 2005, the need of a guitarist ended with the inclusion of Eduardo "Edu" Fonseca, mate of Guido in his musical studies and with whom he had shared interests in building a progressive metal project. Observing the whole composed material, Guido notices a marked trend of fusing metal with melancholy climates and popular rhythms, influenced by his studies in popular music ("The Tree Steps Of Circle" or "Southwest Tango" are clear examples), which will end as the final stamp to the group genre.

This characteristic gets even more remarked when Guido meets the extraordinary multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo "Tucu" Goçalvez, who had came from Tierra del Fuego to continue his musical studies in the same institution than Guido and "Edu". Rodrigo quickly agrees to become a member, taking over the role of the bassist and other instruments according to the needs. During the rehearsals in 2006 and thinking on future live presentations, the band starts searching for a drummer/percussionist.
Although 2007 arrived with no news of a suitable person, Guido decides to start the recording of their first album. During the recording sessions, the band finally finds a drummer: Alejandro Moore, also mates with Guido in his studies.
SOUL APART finishes recording by the beginning of September, 2008, with plans for a series of live presentations including different cities around the country, and together with the edition of their original and sophisticated first album.

-Track x track-

1-Point of departure (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

Song that marks “the beginning of the trip “of the group to musical as lyric level, since gives to understand the title of the song. Of entry stays in clearly the experimental intentions of the band on having fused ethnic climates in the style of the Australian duo Dead Can Dance with the most penetrating power German metal and up to passages pop intelligently applied to the letter that mentions moments of nostalgic, pain and many ire. Bruno Aguzzi's participation in choirs, tenor sax and different instruments (ocarina, didgeridoo, etc.) they perform supreme importance.

2-The always and forever(music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

From the opening of the song sentences that the limits of the band are infinite. With the first half of the song with Pink Floyd's reminiscences, where the honest letter and raw marks a constant trend to the distrust and consistent sorrow, drift in the second powerful half where the power metal of Finnish cut becomes present.

3-Moonson(music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

A wonderful climatic song that transmits a lot of melancholy and describes an eternal errant and Bohemian trip. The song possesses the participation of the singer Sonia Saravia as invited whose voice, with influences rock/blues, gives a new color, not only to the band but to the genre in general.

4-Southwest tango(grey melodies) (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

One of the maximum experiments of the group when fuses the tango of the old guard with the new (Astor Piazzolla) and passages of hard rock up and power metal. The verses refer to the traditional neighbourhood where the vocalist was born, cradle of the tango and of different  artists, as well as also of great industrial activity up to coming to the decadent current situation in both fields. Here a guest of luxury takes charge of the piano: Aldo Saralegui, recognized pianist of tango in the Argentina and in the exterior (Amelita Baltar, and others).

5-The three steps of circle (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

Without doubts the creative peak of the set list. This song of thirteen minutes is divided intentionally in three parts: the first one called " The disguised words ", instrumental with influences ambient and new age. The second, called " The announced end " where the band passes for one of the darkest and heart-breaking moments of the album when the vocalist recognizes " to have touched the bottom " with his depression. And finally the third fragment: " Fury resurrection " mixing progressive metal, power metal, death metal, atmospheric rock then becoming in flamenco with "airs" of rumba. Here the versatile vocalist returns from "the end" and to reaffirm he uses an incredible amalgam of voices that go from the melodic thing up to voices death and black. But the central aim of the lyrics is to categorize a circular vision of the life, in consequence everything returns to be like initially.

6-Existencial fear (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

Another song where the originality goes out afloat. In this one occasion after a chilling intro the band gives free rein (once again) to their eclectic search on having supported these dark atmospheres fusing them with a traditional rhythm of the folklore of the north of the Argentina recognized like " cueca norteńa " and up to some pinch of "zamba". The tenuous voice that describes a constant state of insecurity and frustration meets altered by the powerful "crescendo" to derive in senses shouts.

7-While the rain cries (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

The most epic song of the whole album, with memorable melodies of piano and guitar and an interesting vocal work, though also there is place for a rest of the strongest to emotional level. Without doubts this song will catch immediately the fan of classic heavy metal.

8-Road to self (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

The song that gives name to the album of the prominent band. A beautiful ballad with unforgettable vocal melodies, which point to be the classic one in the first heard. This one contains the participation of another guest of luxury: the extraordinary vocalist of metal, rock, pop and jazz Max Ditamo, in choirs.

9-Last minute bells (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

Another impressive song. The darkest and depressive of the disc where there are described the moments previous to take the decision to commit suicide. A very strong song that manages to include unique and indescribable climates, in the vein of the current style of the Norwegian group Ulver. Surely we are in presence of an unforgettable song.

10-Rose of the swamp (music and lyrics by Guido Lisioli)

The end of the disc with another beautiful song which beginning with a felt introduction of piano immerses us squarely in classic other one to the instant. In this one there can estimate clearly Gothic passages that derive in a hardrocker climax. All that meets guaranteed by the honest lyrics where have doubts about love as feeling, to end being rectified across a personal experience.
