Sacrum is an Argentine alternative rock/metal band
that stands out, among other things, for the live performances, which
include a great theatrical display from the clothing of the band members
and stage design to the participation of actors as part of the show.
In 2008 Sacrum releases the first album called
“Cognition” distributing it throughout the country and also
internationally in Germany and the United States.
That same year, the north-american band Dream Theater choses Sacrum to
open their show in Buenos Aires at the Luna Park Stadium for an audience
of more than 7.000 people.
After performing the official live show to present
Cognition at the ND Ateneo theater with a shocking show, Sacrum starts
recording the second album “Days Of Quarantine”, with independent
production, finally released in August 2009 in Argentina and Europe
distributed by the french label Pervade Productions.
At present the band is getting ready for the first
European Tour during the month of October. Sacrum has been invited to
perform at Prog Power Europe festival to be held in The Netherlands,
being the first Argentine band that will play in the prestigious
prog-metal festival. The band will be also headliner of the new Prog
Power Russia to be held in Moscow and St. Petesburg.
Sacrum comenzó como un proyecto
musical a fines del 2003 cuando los dos miembros fundadores Talo
Silveyra y Martín Guerrero decidieron emprender una banda seria de heavy
rock agregando también otros elementos orquestales y teclados para crear
un sonido nuevo. Luego de un largo tiempo de componer y tocar, Nicolás
Gighlione (ex–baterista) se une a la banda y Sacrum graba su primer EP
llamado Transgenia, recibiendo excelentes comentarios. En 2004 Gighlione
deja la banda pero Mariano Herraiz (ex–tecladista) y Diego Cipolla (Bajo)
se unen rápidamente.
En 2005, luego de
algunas pruebas, el puesto de baterista fue finalmente ocupado
por Agustín Acosta, completando la formación. Sacrum comienza a
ensayar algunas canciones y finalmente se presenta en vivo en
algunas oportunidades durante el 2005 y 2006. Podríamos decir
que en aquel momento Sacrum nació como una banda completa,
aunque el proyecto comenzó antes en el año 2003. Luego de sus
primeras presentaciones en vivo, Sacrum decide dar el siguiente
paso y comienza a grabar su primer álbum de estudio llamado
Cognition. El proceso artístico y de producción/grabación/mezcla/mastering,
tomó casi un año así que fue finalmente lanzado el 1º de Enero
de 2008. Inmediatamente la banda recibió ofertas de distribución
en Alemania y Estados Unidos, excelentes comentarios y reseñas
sobre su primer trabajo discográfico.
En 2008 Sacrum es
elegida por Mike Portnoy para abrir un show de Dream Theater en
el estadio Luna Park (Buenos Aires), además de ser una gran
experiencia, le dio a la banda la oportunidad de ser escuchados
por miles de personas, aunque Sacrum no podía desplegar todo su
show como banda soporte. Ese mismo año la banda decide separarse
de Mariano Herraiz debido a diferencias artísticas, mientras
tanto siguieron preparando un gran show en Buenos Aires y
grabando nuevas canciones que fueron editadas y publicadas
únicamente en internet en forma de Single, bajo el nombre de su
primer canción “Survive”. En Septiembre, se presentan en vivo en
el teatro ND Ateneo para presentar oficialmente Cognition y
también nuevas canciones del próximo disco. El show tuvo una
gran repercusión en la gente y la prensa local, fue un gran
éxito y Sacrum definitivamente comenzó una nueva etapa
artísticamente.
A fines de 2008 Sacrum entra nuevamente al estudio
para grabar Days Of Quarantine, el segundo álbum de la banda, esta vez
totalmente producido por Martín Guerrero. Este álbum muestra una nueva
faceta de Sacrum, conteniendo letras directas, controversiales y
políticas, melodías fuertes y profundas con diferentes matices de
sonidos frescos y melancólicos. Luego del lanzamiento de Days Of
Quarantine, la banda es invitada al festival Prog Power Europe en el año
2010 y comienza los preparativos para girar alrededor del viejo
continente por primera vez. Sacrum no es únicamente musical, es un
proyecto artístico nutrido por fuertes sentimientos e ideales de los
miembros de la banda quienes siempre se asegurarán de expresar todo eso
y estimular tu corazón y tu mente con sonidos, imágenes, palabras y
probablemente más.
