BANDBIO

The Story

Formed in the early part of 2009, Reason is the brainchild of ex-Vandamne/Fyrebyrds/Empire/Crywolf guitarist & songwriter Chris Gyngell and vocalist Paul Mace. The bands mission is to refine the greatest elements of melodic & progressive hard rock & metal into expansive yet direct & powerful songs; something for all fans of pre-grunge power, presented with an up-to-date energy and sentiment. Chris & Paul have recruited ex-Vandamne/Empire keyboard player Martyn Peters, bassist Graham Corbett and drummer Paul Powell to complete the line-up…..

All four members of REASON grew up in the same small town in central England. In fact, Chris Gyngell and Paul Mace grew up in the same street.
All four of them aspired independently to become rock musicians, and even crossed musical paths in their teenage years - Chris and Paul played together in their very first band.
Inevitably, as they all learned their trades, their paths separated, and all of them progressed through the variety of musical ventures. Years went by………….
Then in the summer of 2008, by chance, Chris Gyngell and Paul Mace met up. Both had explored different musical avenues, had shared influences, and came to the same conclusion; that they should invent their ideal band.
Chris was already a proven and accomplished songwriter, and set about creating an initial set of songs which embodied all of the things that they loved. The result was exciting; classic melodic metal songs with a progressive and shamelessly retro influence, infectious vocal melodies built around Paul`s vocal style, thoughtful lyrics, powerful riffs, driving rhythms and intelligent arrangements. The mould was now set.
In early 2009, ex-comrades Martyn Peters and Paul Powell were invited to join the band on keyboards and drums respectively. The winding paths of Chris, Martyn, Paul Mace and Paul Powell had now re-converged; the four from the same small town, after varying experiences, had ended up together.
More strong material was written, and in the summer of 2009 the band was named REASON.
Online promotion of REASON began in late 2009, and immediately brought a great deal of attention worldwide. The band`s sound somehow transcended many genres of rock and metal music, and received acclaim from all directions. By mid-2010, REASON`s song inventory was considerable, and to use a famous phrase `All killer and no filler`.
In June 2010, REASON were contacted by U.S. production legend Beau Hill. Beau had checked out REASON`s web page and liked what he heard. The band are huge admirers of Beau`s work, and an agreement was quickly made for Beau to remix a demo track for promotional purposes. The song `Rise` was selected due to its` concise, powerful and extremely melodic qualities, and Beau set to work… listen to the track, and you can hear the result!
To wrap things up, REASON have recently recruited Graham Corbett on bass, replacing the band`s original bassist. Graham is a talented player who brings even more punch to the rhythm section.
REASON are now looking towards a bright future… plans are being made to assure release of the band`s material, and also to get the band out on the road very soon… watch this space
