Biography
Hello
This is Mursel Isik. I was born in Ankara-Turkey in 1975.
I am a singer/songwriter living in beautiful Istanbul. I was eighteen
when I picked up my first guitar. It is a little bit late age but
unexpectedly I just wanted to play guitar.for picking up the first
guitar I thought that I should have my own songs. As a matter of fact, I
am always interested in literature and poetry. Besides that, I have been
writing my own poems, so I wanted to compose my poems and the poetries'
of my favorite poets. It was like a dream, I woke up one morning and
then I started to play guitar with my own composed music. In the age of
18, suddenly something about playing my own songs has started to grow…
I was graduated from the School of Architecture of I.T.U (Istanbul
Technical University) in 1998.
I have spent my university years while having T-ruler on my one hand and
my guitar on my other hand, and of course drawing projects. I keep this
habit nowadays as well.
My first step to the professional music career was my rock album, "gun
aksamlidir(=The Day is with night) in 2000.
Then My second album, "Non Dolet, Dieu Merci...", which was like a
message from me stating, "I am here and continuing", released in 2003.
After a 5 year period, I released my 3rd and the last album, “Ask Neydi
ki?” (What was love?)NEW ALBUME/2008.
After a long period of hard work for the album, I tried to show my
passion of music and the states of love with the question, What was love?.
The album consists of 14 songs. I also showed my lyric writing skills
besides singing and composing on the album.
The first video of album is for the slow song “Don't be sad”, which I
wrote lyrics at my 20s, is the 3rd song of the album. The fluent music
and simple lyrics helped this song to come into prominence. Especially
this song's electro-guitar solo appearing at last 1,5 minutes is the
auditorial surprise of the album.
I listen to every kind of music which deeply affects my soul, and sounds
great. First of all, I love to listen to Classical Turkish Music,
Turkish Folk Music, Sufi and religious melodies. On the other hand, I
love to listen to Jazz, Blues, and of course Rock. The ones that come to
my mind at first side: Metallica, Gun's N Roses, Deep Purple, UB40, Pink
Floyd, Yusuf İslam (Cat stevens), Bryan Adams, Miriam Makeba, James
Blunt, Madonna. Chris Isaak, Kitaro, James Brown. To sum up, I love
listening to every kind of music, because music is international.
Even a book I'm reading, a picture, a baby's look, and also various
human faces can be effective in composing my songs. Every material
around us can be a subject to my music such as; wars, hunger, love,
happiness, tears, and drama. Since I am a romantic and sensitive
musician, every song that I composed has a story in me.
best wishes from Istanbul.
