"The lovely and
dangerous Corpsewax Dollies innovate and excel in the styles
of morbid cabaret belly dance, vaudevillian, burlesque,
Grand Guignol, can-can, go-go, gothic, industrial, metal,
punk, horror, science fiction and the inexplicable and
undefinable realms of performance art. Corpsewax Dollies
Morbid Cabaret shows often feature cat fights and wrestling.
We like to writhe in green slime, blood, entrails, and other
substances... and we also perform dark acts including our
bondage coffin, iron pokers, fire fans, severed body parts,
hooks and needles, and other various favorite props. Our
shows move from deadly serious darkness through comedic and
psychotic breaks, to lascivious showgirl fantasies... with
many surprises along the way. We are devoted to our art and
skilled in our techniques." -Corpsewax Dollies’ official

"There was no starting point to my
performance art career, unless you want to dig deep into
childhood and find it there.
I've created, experimented and
explored means of artistic expression ever since I can
remember. My path has led me to my main mode of art today:
Morbid Cabaret performed with my Corpsewax Dollies. Morbid
Cabaret shows include dancing (based on belly dancing and
burlesque) and performance art inspired by horror movies,
Grand Guignol, and first and foremost: the music to which we
perform, which ranges across styles but focuses on dark
themes and heavier (metal and industrial) sounds. Our shows
include fetish fantasies and wrestling as well as comedic
interludes. I arrange the line-up and choreography, as well
as direct the Corpsewax Dollies and explore different horror
and sci-fi themes, story lines and juxtapositions in the
shows. This satisfies my writing urge, my artistic visions,
and my expressive and social life.
In the past I spent a lot
more time writing and painting, but now those modes have
become subsumed by performance art.
"I have a master’s degree in Art History, and have
focused on performance art in my research in all art
historical periods I studied, from the ancient to
contemporary. In the field of dance, I've studied belly
dancing for over a decade with many nationally and
internationally famous instructors, and I teach belly
dancing and currently direct three other troupes besides
the Corpsewax Dollies. As a visual artist, I've
exhibited and sold my paintings and drawings nationally
and have quite an extensive collection. As a writer...
but blah blah blah... enough about all that. I'm
prolific, nearly manic, in my chosen modes of expression,
so I have a lot to show for it. Some people spend years
on the same work of art. I am not that patient, and
neither are the ideas that burn through my head.
"Beyond expressive arts, my interests focus mainly in
psychology, biology and medicine. I've studied midwifery
and graduated from an advanced level home birth
midwifery program. I've attended women in childbirth as
an assistant (not as a midwife; I am not qualified for
that yet). I am fascinated with all transitions,
especially the ultimate known to me: birth and death.
Transitions are of crucial importance, and the
experience can always be made better by those with
knowledge and the desire to help." -Jillanna Babb’s
