HERMIEN JD

A true musical artist is one who evokes the listener’s imagination through sound in much the same way as a painter does visually with brush to canvas.

Hermien JD is a uniquely different brand of composer, musician and sound designer… He is a true musical artist creating Pictures in Music & varying Dimensions in Sound.

Hermien’s musical background stems from being a touring heavy rock/metal musician originally playing drums for various name and semi names worldwide…. Now specializing in dynamic sound-scapes comprising of music & sound effects, Hermien creates powerful musical journeys… Most of his compositions are a fusion of classical, gothic, choral & orchestral styles intermingled to create a wide array of moods & atmospherics… These are often embellished with sound FX, narrative & implemented by dynamic rock rhythms…

As well as being an accomplished, hardworking and extremely imaginative musician, Hermien’s interest in medieval history has lent his style to creating historically influenced musical soundtracks… He has created full soundtracks for various historical re-enactment society’s and heritage sites throughout the UK, most notably London/England’s famous Royal Palace and Fortress, the Tower of London. Hermien has written several original pieces of music for the Tower as well as playing a major roll in the creation of Camelot International’s award winning web site…

Among Hermien’s other projects is a 55 minute concept album, *Lionheart, the Third Crusade*… 1189 was in fact originally created simply as a showcase for Hermien’s early work & not intended for commercial release… However, as a result of his involvement with the Tower of London, 1189 was released on CD in limited edition through the UK’s historical society’s & helped to further establish Hermien’s imaginative styles of music…

*1189: Lionheart, the Third Crusade* is fact based on Richard the Lionheart’s Crusade & features storyline narration by Tower of London’s Chief Yeoman Warder “Tom Sharp”…

Another high standing project was a music narrative and SFX piece chronicling the Roman Invasion of England titled “Legions” which has been repeatedly played by various sections of the BBC World Service… The UK School Curriculum has also used Legions in its entirety as a learning tool for its history of Europe project. The first ever complete playing of Legions took place inside London’s famous St Paul’s Cathedral…

Another collaboration with the Tower of London is Streets of Hell, a gothic horror concept based upon old Victorian London murderer Jack the Ripper. Streets of Hell was also the first serialized audio experienced on the Internet…

Hermien has recently completed a full length movie score plus sound design for a new UK feature length film.... The movie, a modern pseudo psychological thriller preliminarily titled “Those Without Shadows” is being planned for release in the near future.

Currently Hermien is involved in many collaborations with various bands, musicians worldwide… Plus, using the collaborative title of AWAHJD, a regular & ongoing array of work is with internationally acclaimed poet & writer Angelica Wandering Angel (AWA)…
Their work together has created an impact on several radio stations & social & promotional networks & magazines, leading to them to being featured musicians of the month on several occasions…

Hermien is looking to create soundtracks, musical scores, atmospherics & soundscapes for movies, documentaries & video games in the horror, thriller, sci fi & historical genre’s.
