Austria may be known as the classical music capital of the world, but make no mistake, Cornerstone is here to rock.Patricia Hillinger (Vocals, Guitar), Michael Wachelhofer (Bass, Keyboards, Vocals), Steve Wachelhofer (Guitar, Vocals) and Wolfgang Baumeister(Drums, Percussion) signed a record deal with US-label ATOM Records and have released their debut
"Head Over Heels" in the same year.
Following the release, the band was introduced to more than one hundred magazines and radio stations worldwide. Beautiful melodies, big guitars, a melodic bass and sad-aggressive lyrics about the small and big topics of this world quickly inspired the public, particularly in the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom.
Some of the songs from the new CD are included in the motionpicture soundtrack for the film "Little Alien," which will be shown in all
Austrian cinemas and on television in fall of 2009. The band's focus is
nevertheles Cornerstone has won the "Next Big Thing Contest," sponsored by Alternative Addiction, in March 2008 and had a No 1 hit on Chungardio Statesides.
In the United Kingdom the band had a very successful tour in the fall of 2008, followed by reviews and interviews in the most important rock'zines (Powerplay, Fireworks, Classic Rock, etc.) and appearances on UK-Radio (e.g. in the Steve Price show/Radio ARFM).
Cornerstone did another tour through the UK in spring 2009 (including
the Z Rock Festival in Dudley, together with Ted Poley and John Waite/Ex-Bad English, Ex-Babys), and a longer series of concerts stateside is in the
works for summer 2009.
For 2010 a new album and another tour through United Kingdom and United States are already in planning proces
(Version 2008 with the old
vocalist)
Normalerweise ist ja Österreich als Hauptstadt der klassischen Musik
bekannt, aber bei Cornerstone ist das alles etwas anders - diese Band rockt.
Patricia Hillinger (Vocals, Guitar), Michael Wachelhofer(Bass, Keyboards, Vocals), Steve
Wachelhofer (Guitar, Vocals) und Wolfgang Baumeister (Drums, Percussion) bekamen
2008 einen Plattenvertrag bei dem US-amerikanischen Label ATOM Records und brachten
im selben Jahr ihr erstes Album "Head Over Heels" heraus, das daraufhin von
überhundert Magazinen und Radiostationen weltweit vorgestellt wurde.
Wunderschöne Melodien, luftige Gitarren, ein runder melodiöser Bass und
traurig-aggressive Texte über die Welt im Kleinen und Großen begeistern schnell
ein Publikum speziell in den U.S.A. und Großbritannien.
Einige Songs finden sich auf dem Soundtrack des Kinofilms "Little Alien"
wieder, der im Herbst 2009 in den österreichischen Kinos und in weiterer Folge auch im
Fernsehen laufen wird, der Focus ist jedoch eher im anglo-amerikanischen Raum: im
März 2008 gewinnt die Band in den U.S.A. den von Alternative Addiction gehosteten
"Next Big Thing"- Contest, gefolgt von einer Nummer 1 - Platzierung bei
Chungaradio.
In Großbritannien folgten nach einer sehr erfolgreichen Tournee im
Herbst 2008 Berichte und Interviews in den wichtigsten Rock - magazinen (Powerplay, Fireworks,
Classic Rock
Magazine, ...) und Auftritte im britischen Radio (u.a. in der Steve
Price Show/Radio ARFM), sodass für das Frühjahr 2009 eine weitere Tour durch England -
inkl. eines Auftrittes beim Z-Rock Festival in Dudley, gemeinsam mit Ted Poley und
John Waite (Ex-Babys, Ex-Bad English) und im Sommer eine mehrwöchige Tour durch die
Vereinigten Staaten - inkl. Fernseh- und Radioauftritten auf mehreren Stationen -
absolviert wurde.
Für 2010 sind bereits ein neues Album sowie neuerliche Touren durch
Großbritannien und die Vereinigten Staaten geplant.
